Dancing Queen... a study of a 2 year old's joy!

So, here are some videos.  The week of all the bad snow in January we lost our power for three days.  You begin to get pretty desparate for toddler entertainment in that situation.   Think about it!  We had no hot water/heat/phone/cable/etc....  SO, no bathtime play, babe must always sleep with mama and daddy due to a bad cold and no monitor to listen to breathing, we couldn't really read books that well after dark, no coloring, play-dough, finger paints, etc..

Thankfully, daddy had spent the third evening hooking up a generator to the wood burning stove and blower on the furnace, as well as the tankless hot water heater.  We finally got a warm bath and a warm house.  Life was good!!! We decided to break out mama's un-tuned guitar, the flashlight, and the video camera.  Here's what came of that evening.   The last video was tonight. (2/18)  She was inspired by the Plain White Tees.  Thanks to friend Tracy S. for posting this song several months ago on her site and explaining a bonding moment she had with her daughter.  I had downloaded the song then, because I loved it!  It's on my ipod and makes for occasional entertainment in the car or kitchen.  May post more in the future...This was a very funny night of dance and laughter.

All kinds of Buns in the Oven...

So, I'm not sure what has gotten into me these days.  Maybe it is the complete bi-polar existance of my life.  Going from a work place that does not allot for a single moment of breath...to a home life, where I cannot keep up, but am still forced to lie and watch the world as it goes on by getting further out of my control..... The pressure of maintaining the life of this little being inside me, while keeping the little being beside me entertained and content, all the while, trying to be the good wife.

This lack of control has brought out the worst in me.  I have no sensor.  I am easily irritated by, or driven crazy by daily routine things.  I'm am incredibly annoyed by the sense of "entitlement" I've seen in the world as of late.  The whole, "the world owes me" mentality.... The totally materialistic, plugged in, superficial mentality of many.......I don't know...the culmination of all these random situations and things have forced me to...........

Bake Bread.  Yes.  Bake Bread.  So far, 3 loaves of Italian and 2 loves of banana chocolate chip bread.
Not from a mix, not from a machine.  With my bear hands....starting the yeast, kneading the dough, mashing the bananas by hand...etc.  Just me, some high quality flour, baking powder, and grit.

I have a stool in the kitchen and I try to sit most of the time as to keep the "Bun in the Oven" happy and content.  But I do feel pretty worn out when it's all said and done regardless.  Who has eaten this bread?  Just us, the fam.  Some has even gone to waste because we can't eat it fast enough.  It's been good, real good.  Probably the best things I've ever made in a kitchen.

There is something about creating something from nothing...just flour, water and yeast.  Watching it rise, develop, get knocked down, rise again...turning into something beautiful and warm...  I don't know.  Sorta feels like what I want my life to be...A beautiful thing that grows out of the simple things in life.  Maybe baking bread is exactly what I should be doing....
